Hello, Cloud enthusiasts!
Who says summer is a slow time of year for businesses? That's certainly not the case around here.
IBM continues to roll out world-class cloud solutions like the recently announced IBM Bluemix Local System, the latest release of PureApplication System on Intel that allows you to run your enterprise application stack alongside cloud-native apps in a single, fully integrated, and optimized on-prem environment. Announcements like this keep us on our toes all year long. See the "In the News" section below for more examples of IBM's leadership in the cloud arena.
And of course, here at developerWorks Cloud, we're all about helping IT professionals like you take advantage of all that the cloud has to offer -- as you'll see in the top features below. In one tutorial, author Carmine DiMascio describes how he incorporated his love of baseball into an app he created that uses Weather Company Data for IBM Bluemix and DBpedia to provide weather data for major league ballparks.
So it's not like we've forgotten what time of year it is. Heck, I even managed to squeeze in a little vacation since our last issue. Here's hoping you, too, get some well-deserved downtime. Trust me, the work will be there for you when you get back.
